Our hotel in Cochin was called the Old Courtyard. It looked like a rehabilitated cloister, with mildew and moss growing on the inner walls. Like everywhere in India, it was very humid. Here we are about to have dinner. Note the three-headed elephant statue. There were also geckos, but I didn't take a picture of those, since they're so omnipresent on US TV anyway. We had grilled prawns, fresh fish in banana leaf, pineapple and banana flambees, yellow dahl soup and vegetable tempura. To drink, a discovery - freshly-squeezed lime juice, freshly-squeezed ginger juice, soda water and a bit of sugar. Jody, eschewing sugar, adds Stevia - and in what will become a theme of the trip, her lime soda immediately bubbles up and spews over the brim of her glass. I didn't take pictures of that either.
