This may not be the most organized country in the world. When we went through immigration in Delhi, there was a delay because of a problem with Jody's visa. I tend not to scrutinize excessively visas in our passports, especially ones written in languages I don't read. But it turns out that there was a slight inconsistency - both our visas were issued in September 2010, but while mine expired six months later, in March 2011, Jody's expired six months before it was issued - in March 2010. So that took a few minutes to resolve - though every time we checked into a new hotel, there was another delay because of the expired visa.
A driver was waiting for us with a placard with our names, so we hopped in the car and went to the Delhi hotel, a short 75 minute ride away. The hotel was not happy - there was a big argument between the check-in clerk and the driver, because the hotel had sent another driver, who was still waiting at the airport. Turns out the travel agency had sent a driver too, and in order to maximize efficiency, neither told the other.
Then there was the minor issue of the travel agency having arranged flights for us from Goa to Cochin the day after we were due to fly out of India, or neglecting to actually inform the hotel in Goa that we had a pre-paid reservation for three nights.
