A la plage
OK, so in Nice itself, the beach isn't much to write home about, or blog about. It has practically no sand. Instead, it's fairly large rocks - founded and smoothed, to be sure, but rocks, all the same. A couple of hardy souls try sitting on the rocks from time to time, but people either pay the outrageous fees to rent a lounge chair, or they bring their own. Or they just go straight for the swimming, though the water was a bit brisk. But anyway, one morning, out of nowhere, this enormous bulldozer comes along, pushing even more rocks onto the beach and smoothing them out, sort of. There were several snorkelers, and we saw a lot of people who were throwing rocks into the ocean. While I didn't actually see any swimmer or snorkeler get hid in the head by one of these hundreds of rocks, it must happen sometimes.
